father’s day checker board

Doesn’t this make a perfect gift for the dad in your life? I think so! Since Father’s Day also happens to be the start of summer, the idea to make something that could be useful at the beach, on a ┬ápicnic or just on the back deck is always very appealing. Activities that bring the family together is what it is all about. And the best part is, the flip side is a tic-tac-toe board!

I used a piece of Mod Green Pod’s solid canvas, a water soluable marker, fabric paint and a square eraser to complete the project and picked up some polished rocks at the garden store for the checker pieces. I also made a quick zipper pouch to hold the pieces. Pretty simple and like I said, should actually come in pretty handy in the beautiful days to come!

You can find a similar tutorial here. The one I used was in a past issue of Martha Stewart Living.
