teacher appreciation gift ideas

Each year I try to make something special for Franco’s teacher. I don’t always make the deadline so this year I am getting a head start! For me, the project can be small, big, complex or simple. With all of the great tutorials out there, the choices are endless, so it’s all about finding the right fit.

recap: anna graham noodlehead workshop

IMG_0889

Last month, Anna Graham, sewing blogger and creator of Noodlehead, visited nido for a weekend workshop featuring a couple of great patterns from her new book, Handmade Style. It was such a pleasure to spend time with Anna and the rest of ladies!

Participants sewed the Market Bag and the Carry-All Pincushion. It was a lot of fun to see the variations of the different projects. Joelle used an old feedback that she oiled, Michelle worked with Japanese fabrics and quilted flying geese within her strips of fabric in the center, others added their own spin as well. SO COOL!FullSizeRender

The weekend was filled with sewing and inspiration. I paticularly loved each persons sewing station set up, adorned with handmade pincushions, bags and notion zip pouches. It really showcased individual style and truly inspired me to step up my own set up!

A big thank you to Anna for spending the weekend with us, sharing her sewing tips, tricks, and expertise in bag making!

Look for our next special workshops starting with guest April Rhodes scheduled for September 26th, 2015, and a weekend with Carolyn Friedlander scheduled for July 16th and 17th 2016. Details coming soon!
