For those of you who haven’t already heard the news, nido is now open Monday’s from 11:00-7:00. That’s right, we even mixed up the hours a bit to give people working a 9:00-5:00 schedule time to pop in during the week.
Exciting!

Have I mentioned the excitement that occurs at nido when our UPS guy stops in with our deliveries? It is a serious frenzy of riping open packages as fast as we can and swooning at new products. It takes a moment to get a good look at everything and then immediately we start talking about what we would make, our favorite colorway and combinations…it just may be one of my favorite parts about my job!
Today a shipment from Seven Islands arrived and among the goodies is Melody Miller’s newest collection Ruby Star Springtime.

I would like to mention that all 3 colorways of Buzz are still on their way, however if you would like to preorder it you certainly can.
Echino webbing in various colors also arrived today. I see some 30-minute totes in my future!

Franco & I spent a little down time in Florida the past week & while we didn’t beat the heat entirely, it was the perfect time to get away since Vermont suffered 97 degree weather multiple days is a row.

What did you do to beat the heat??
We LOVE hearing back from our customers and getting the chance to see what they’ve made. Here Diane writes:
I was in your beautiful shop in April with my 2 daughters, and among other goodies I purchased a scrap bag (or two). This small quilt is made from Echino and Amy Butler scraps from one of the bags (the border is from my own stash). I thought you would enjoy seeing it.

Your quilt looks amzing Diane. We especially like what you’ve done with the birds! Thank you for sharing with us.

Who couldn’t use a bit more cuteness in their everyday life? How about an adorable palm-sized mouse to hold your pins for you? This floppy eared fella from 1-2-3 Sew, by Ellen Luckett Baker, takes barely any fabric and comes together oh so quick. You could easily make several in one afternoon! Why would you need several, you ask? Because he can easily be made into a catnip toy! Plus, it was a lot of fun playing with fabric combinations and facial expressions, with each one coming out slightly different. Any way you choose to make this little guy, it will surely be cute.
1,2,3 Sew has a TON of fabulous projects ranging from home accessories to kids capes to craft caddies. A definite “must have” in the craft book collection.

We continue to globe trot with our fabric selection, now introducing Liberty of London Tana Lawn Classics. The company has been around since the late 1800’s, and it shows in the quality. Their tana lawn fabric is so incredibly soft, but still sturdy with a nice drape. It is similar to cotton voile in feel, but is a step up. The prints are timeless with delicate florals in vibrant colors. I am personally dreaming of a lightweight summer dress and a couple blouses to hit the streets with. We are currently offering six prints from the Tana Lawn Classics line, so stop by our store or our online shop and let us know what you think!
What would you make?

Had to give a holla out to MotoVermont, my husbands motorcycle adventure outfitters and rentals company that he just started up this summer. Eric has a love for motorcycles like no other and has taken his passion in a whole new direction with his business. MotoVermont rents BMW and Kawasaki motorbikes, as well as riding accessories including helmets, jackets & camping equipment. Vermont is an absolutely beautiful state to visit so if you know of anyone who is looking to ride New England, please send them his way.
SO proud of you baby!

I have had my eye on Jay McCarroll’s Habitat collection since it arrived a few months ago. Among my favorite prints is the Birch in the blue colorway. It’s a bit edgy for me given that I am usually attracted to flowers and “sweeter” prints if you will, but that’s what I love so much about it. After my last Honey Girl Dress class I found myself so inspired by my students frocks that I decided to sew one up for myself. I think it was a goot choice for the fabric and have already worn my new dress twice this week!
There are so many wonderful NEW items in the shop that I seriously can not keep up! My “to sew” stack in the back of the shop, which is completely driven by inspiration, is piled high & slowly but surely I am making a dent in it. I am definitely in the midst of a creative explosion!
Out of the stacks this week is the Ink & Spindle shoulder bag kit. If you have seen Ink & Spindle prints at the shop & have wondered what to do with it, the shoulder bag is a lovely way to show off this fabulous fabric. I am loving orange right now so I chose the Acacia print in persimmon but it was a hard decision since there are so many prints to choose from. The kit comes with everything you need, including the strap, snap, lining fabric & instructions. There is even extra fabric for a pocket if you want to add one in. For some reason I was intimidated by the strap but silly me–it was super easy & the whole bag was sewn up in one quick sitting.
Just in time for the weekend!
