Woolfolk is inspired by Kristin Ford’s Danish heritage and her grandmother, Katherine Temple Woolfolk, who taught her how to knit at age 5. When the last name of “Woolfolk” run’s in the family, it might be destiny to design and create amazing yarn!

Woolfolk comes in three great weights: a chainette worsted, two fingering yarns including a marled, and a new bulky (arriving to nido shelves October 2015). This yarn is extremely soft, comparable to cashmere. With a micron count of 17.5, Woolfolk has the softness of cashmere with the wearability of merino.

More about that buttery merino. It comes from Ovis 21, a sustainable cooperative in Argentina’s Patagonian grasslands, who believe in responsible land management and the conservation of all that use the land. This wool is not only super soft, but has been sustainably curated from land to sheep to consumer. Kristin Ford also donates a portion of her proceeds back to Ovis 21.

Woolfolk’s patterns are modern, clean, and are compiled from some great designers from Melanie Berg to Bristol Ivy to creator of Woolfolk Kristin Ford, herself.

We love this luxuriously soft yarn, the beautifully designed patterns, and the company’s social and environmental responsibility!

lucinda sweater KAL: recap

Fancy Tiger, Kelbourne Woolens and Grainline Studio put together a knit-a-long and we were so excited to join in on the fun. The project chosen was Lucinda from Madder Anthology 2: simple pleasures by Carrie Bostick Hoge. We gathered 13 nido customers, picked out yarn, had a kick off cast on party and had at it.

July 1st through August 15th we knit our hearts out at the park, beach, around camp fires, at the shop, and really anywhere and everywhere! The yarn used is The Fibre Company’s Acadia, a delightful blend of merino, alpaca, and silk with an even lovelier palette. Look for Acadia at the shop this fall.

Thanks to Fancy Tiger, Kelbourne Woolens, and Grainline Studio for putting together such a great summer KAL. We have had so much fun knitting up these sweaters!

knit in public day!

Are you ready for Knit in Public Day? Just so happens it is TODAY, Saturday, June 13th!

This year marks the 10 year anniversary of this worldwide affair. The event brings awareness not only to knitting as a craft, but as a craft that can be a fun social activity with friends and neighbors in your community.

Grab your needles and take a stroll to your favorite coffee shop, cafe, or park. Who knows who else you will find that enjoys knitting as much as you! And of course come stop by the shop to show us what you are working on.

I plan on a lovely afternoon soaking up the sunshine in City Hall Park listening to some Jazz Fest artists. Looking forward to supporting this cool event and seeing other knitters around town!
