If you are a friendly, crafty individual, enjoy working in a retail enviornment , are self motivated, organized and detail oriented than this could be the job for you. nido is hoping to hire a couple of people who love fibers as much as we do and who have exceptional customer service skills.
Interested individuals should have experience working in a fast passed retail enviornment, have availablity two afternoons a week and are available for weekend shifts. Sewing and knitting skills are not mandetory but certainly helpful. All qualified applicants are encouraged to stop by nido and drop off a current resume .
No phone calls please.
This Sunday nido will be hosting the first Modern Quilt Club meeting. The intention of the first few meetings is simply getting a group of interested modern quilters together and gauging interest in either starting a Modern Quilt Guild chapter in our community, or sorting out something different that fits our needs and interests.
We encourage people of all levels of talent to attend and have a voice in the creation process of what the group will evolve to become. This is a wonderful opportunity for all of you out there who want to connect and create with like minded quilters! Attendance makes it happen though so please come out on Sunday and support the efforts of starting this new group. Coffee and bagels with cream cheese will be provided, bringing a snack to share is encouraged but not mandatory.
See you Sunday!

We’ve just returned from Quilt Market in Pittsburgh – we had a chance to see, touch and place orders for so many great new fabrics. They’ll start arriving starting next week and we’ll continue getting new fabrics in throughout the summer.
This is good news, not only because we all love new fabric, but also because it means we need to make some room on the shelves, which means a big sale for you!

For the past 5 years Umbrella Prints has hosted their Umbrella Prints Trimmings Competition. The essence of the contest is that you purchase one of their organic, hand screen printed fabric trimmings packs, take a photo of your fabrics, do something creative and original and enter to win. How fun is that! There are industry celebrity judges, golden tickets and cash prizes too. Interested in joining in on the fun? Click over and read more about it. Here is a little peek at the contents of my trimmings pack:
nido recently received a new shipment of Umbrella Prints fabrics including their remnants packs, trimming packs and fat quarter bundles so be sure to stop by the shop to choose your fabric pack or purchase one online.
I love myself a good book. At night I read sewing books as if they were novels, marveling over new techniques, projects and oh my, the photographs! Books are a huge part of my sewing inspiration and process. I am always learning something new and for me, the Merchant & Mills Sewing Book offers just that – NEW techniques, machine know-hows and projects.
The first 40 pages go over tools, haberdashery, sewing techniques, using patterns, different materials and how to iron your fabrics best. It’s detailed and chock-full of photographs. The projects include a bolster cushion, duffel bag and apron. The Merchant & Mills patterns call for fabrics that I do not typically work with such as oilskin, denim and leather but because they provide a through foundation for sewing with various materials, I think I could easilly give it a go.
Aprons are a go to in my household so I may just have to sew one of these up soon.
Stop by nido and check out the NEW Merchant & Mills Sewing Book for yourself.
For those of you who have been pining over Skinny LaMinx fabrics from afar, you are going to LOVE having them at the shop! Currently an entire rainbow of fat quarters line the shelves at nido. Stop in and check them out to get first picks on your favorite prints and color ways.
New in the shop is this wonderful low volume rainbow fat quarter bundle. We have paired twelve fabrics together for you as a grab and go for your next quilting or patchwork project! Stay tuned as we continue to add more to our custom fat quarter
selections. I hear a rumor we may be adding a solids companion bundle.
