It has only been just over a week now since Heather Jones left town and I am still bursting with creative energy in her wake! It is no big secret around here that I myself do not get a whole lot of personal sewing accomplished. After one day of learning color theory basics and new sewing techniques with Heather, I dusted off the old sewing machine, took over our dining room table and have not stopped sewing since. It feels just like old times, when sewing was EVERYTHING! It feels great!
nido’s special Linework and Design Workshop with Heather was wonderful. Heather told us about her personal journey with sewing and how she started off as a painter. Her stories behind her quilts are simple yet engaging. Everything was very tangible and I too, felt so incredibly inspired by her creative muses. There were 19 participants all with various levels of sewing under their belts. Everyone worked with their own color palette. I think it was a bit challenging and different for everyone to be working with only solids! It challenged us in a different way and had us discussing color values.
Jessica Sipe was able to join us for a bit and captured some photos of all of us. It was truly an amazing day!
If you were unable to make it to the Linework + Design Workshop with Heather Jones, be sure to check out our next special workshop with Carolyn Friedlander.
